Independent machinery sourcing · Integration

case packer

Case Packer Sourcing is an independent sourcing partner for dedicated case packer procurement. Share pack pattern, product rigidity, quantity and destination so factories can return wholesale quotations on the same envelope. Adjacent fillers, cartoners or palletizers are not treated as this site’s primary landing scope.

Documents before quotation

  • Drawing or process description

Attach or describe the case style (RSC, wrap-around blank, tray), the product count and orientation in each layer, and whether grouping happens before the packer or inside the cell. A single isometric sketch is enough to start; CAD can follow after the first factory reply.

  • Operating conditions

State products per minute and cases per minute as separate figures, with the product, case and test condition those figures assume. Name plant supply as 208 V, 230 V or 480 V at 60 Hz (or 50 Hz if the quoted panel is not built for the US plant), compressed air in bar or psi, footprint in millimetres, and the PLC interface expected at the infeed and discharge.

Missing pack-pattern matrices make quotations non-comparable. Factories may still reply, but cycle time, tooling and gripper choices cannot be checked against the same duty until those fields exist.

Duty and operating envelope

Throughput claims only become procurement evidence when feedstock, pattern and duty cycle sit on the same line. This section lists the questions we copy into comparable RFQs rather than a guaranteed line output.

Material entering the machine
Identify bottles, cartons, pouches, trays or mixed packs, including the least rigid pack and any slippery film. Gripper or wrap-around forming cannot be scored if only the strongest SKU is described.
Required output
Give products/minute and cases/minute separately, plus the pack matrix that converts one into the other. A public carton-packing page that prints 100 products per minute beside 35 cases per minute is a manufacturer example on one test pack; it is not installed output for your SKU unless the same product, case and grouping are restated.
Duty cycle
Describe shift length, washdown, planned changeover and whether the cell must recover an incomplete group after a failed pick without silently discharging a short case.

Compare procurement cost boundaries for a case packer

Machine

Base cell, format tooling, gripper or wrap-around forming set, case magazine, flap control, and the PLC program that holds the contracted patterns.

Delivery

Export packing, inland freight to the US destination, insurance, duties and any named unloading equipment. Incoterms must appear on each quote, not only in email prose.

Site

Installation, compressed-air drops, guarding, training, spare parts kits, FAT at the supplier and SAT with buyer samples. These lines are often excluded unless named.

No numerical saving claim without comparable quotations.

Resolve unknowns before a case packer award

What product count and orientation define each case pattern?
Known input
Buyer lists every contracted SKU with count per case, layer count, orientation, case inner dimensions and whether products arrive collated or as a random stream.
Supplier confirmation
Factory restates which patterns are included in the base machine, which need extra tooling, and how cycle time is measured when the least rigid pack is used.
Which responsibilities remain with the equipment supplier and buyer?

The buyer owns product and case samples, utility capacity, and plant layout. The named supplier owns machine performance against the quoted pattern set, FAT/SAT criteria written into the order, and any erection or flap-control devices they priced. Case Packer Sourcing coordinates the comparison; we do not take commissioning liability.
